| Because we’re
here … families and child care providers have support. |
As advocates and stewards of quality
child care in Richmond, Volunteer Richmond Information Services
also understands how vital it is that families find the child
care program that matches the needs of their family and child.
Our purpose is to provide families with information to meet
their individual needs, and child care providers with the
training, materials, support and information to provide nurturing,
safe, quality programs.
Resource Centre staff make over 5000 referrals to child care
facilities each year, linking families with care centres,
and respond to hundreds of general inquiries through the Family
Information Line.
We provide a One-stop Program for Child Care Providers where
they can borrow resources, activity boxes, start-up equipment
and other materials for use with children in their programs.
Through training and professional development workshops, providers
are offered opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills
in early childhood care and education.
Celebrating the vital work done by child care providers is part of our advocacy – during Child Care Month in May and throughout the year. Our High Five Awards recognize individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to child care in Richmond.
